My Home ...My Sanctuary
Ive been thinking alot about my favourite places recently, and it dawned on me, although I have 'special' places that have amazing memories, Rye East Sussex, Aldeburgh Suffolk, Leigh on Sea Essex, the list goes on, places which i will visit regularly and want to share with you, My ultimate favourite place, where i feel at ease with myself, never lonely, anxious or feel unable to completely let go and be my scatty, Funny,(that word again!)😆 self, simply is HoMe!
My home is my Sanctuary, yes its a work in progress ,probably like everyone else and maybe looking back i felt in my thirties that by 48 id be 'sorted', but something i've learnt along my journey so far, what is sorted? id say its probably the ability to be comfortable in your own skin;
to be beautiful means to be yourself.you dont need to be accepted by others.you need to accept yourself -Thich Nhat Hanh
Hubby and I moved to Colchester 2 years ago, and my garden was knee deep with weeds, definately a work in progress i'd say. but fast forward two years and it has become my sanctuary, with enough room for 1 pooch, 1 Cat and two tortoises.
something that as a young girl id never imagine loving is Gardening, all that hard work and for what? A ruined manicure! No my lovlies its amazing its so relaxing, yes honestly, theres nothing quite like coming and pottering in the garden, obviously i leave the manual labour to Mr P, 😉 digging , we have hard clay soil! But I get stuck in with all other duties, and I alway feel calm and happy
something that has struck me is how 'ordered' my garden is : Border of beautiful lavender...pots in a row, herb garden... which I think says alot about me as a person..... Yes I am OcD, YES I am a perfectionist, yes I like Order and everything 'just so', which does put someone under pressure , I know this but still its in my make up, so I am learning to accept it and create a life which helps me to embrace it,yes its taken me 48 years to start! I'm going to let you all think about , is this you? until my next post, where i will talk about how I started and am still going through the process, believe me it is quite a calming experience. please join me in my comments and lets talk about where you feel most relaxed and at ease?
