Simplicity And The ART of Slow Living
Who Knew that Travelling in a Van In a "Tiny Space" would become so appealing.
Who knew that it could be a second home which transports you to your dream destinations, whilst never getting home sick, why? because you have your very own Home on wheels, all of your home comforts, yes you take everything with you! Fabulous right?
But then you realise that its not that big, so maybe not everything!
Well lucky for us its just perfect!
WE ARE MINIMALIST!
What? I hear you say, what is this minimalist thing? It's something I've been very passionate about for a long time. Something which is not a following, but a lifestyle. One which i've created in my home, my capsule wardrobe, my work, my life , If you want to know more please read my post
Slow Living, Minimalism just a small snippet.
I digress, so we can easily fit our minimal things we need in our Georgie. But we will need storage, jars, boxes, etc, but I was adamant that all these things would be sustainable. I'm determined that our Georgie will have
"No plastic, All recyclable items, And Sustainable"
This is no mean feat I can tell you, whilst its easy to source these items, actually maintaining this whilst on the road is definitely not too easy. Mostly it's fine, but when we were on our adventures in Scotland, especially the Highlands disposing of waste, mindfully, recycling does change, we actually, well Mr P, The chief Recycle Person in our household, saved a lot of plastic (plastic that food comes in, tins etc) and we disposed of them when we found somewhere near a town. but obviously this takes up space, so we crush cans, & make it as small as possible then store in the back of the van wardrobe.
Then there are baskets that I've seen on many a you tube videos, or instagram stories, to keep things in, But they are plastic, so I searched for baskets and containers. I managed to find a lot in the fabulous
IKEA My wonderful String bags, which I pop up onto my hooks and keep all our Fruit and vegetables in,
which hang on my kitchen rail with hooks....take a peep in our video on YouTube....
Touring with Thomas's IKEA HAUL , You will see a few items that I managed to pick up, which are not plastic. And for transporting food, I bought the fabulous Ikea glass bowls with bamboo lids, yes they are slightly heavier than the plastic ones, but hey its a small price to pay for sustainability. One i'm sure most would be willing to pay.
And for our mugs, well we did have some glass ones, but I decided to go with enamel , they are light and will last for years. I also recently bought the amazing Coconut bowls from https://eu.coconutbowls.com/
